Abstract
Effective interpersonal communication is critically imponant in the design phase of a building project if a successful design brief is to be formulated and appropriate cost advice prepared. This paper explores the latter process in the context of communication theory, using structured interview surveys of building clients, architects and quantity surveyors in South Africa.
