Abstract
The result of a preliminary survey of factors affecting construction time is described. The objective of the survey which was conducted in the UK was to prioritize factors which are taken into consideration by accomplished contractors in planning the construction time of buildings. A significant degree of consistency in ranking 'timeinfluencing factors' was found. The most important factors are apparently those which can readily be identified or deduced from project information and whose impact on construction time can generally be assessed explicitly by mathematical and judgemental analyses.
