Abstract
Adam Menelaws like William Hastie was a Scottish architect who found employment in Moscow. Until recently little has been known in the west of their work. Following her earlier paper on Hastie, Tatiana Ruchinskaya sets the scene for menelaws' contribution to Russian architecture of the period. Moscow's classical architecture of this period was due to the influence of a number of architects, Bajenov and Kazakov of Russia; Bove of France; Dgiliardi of Switzerland and the two Scots, William Hastie and Adam Menelaws. This paper details Menelaws' work and draws on references in the state archives when the author was living and researching in Moscow.
