Abstract
A questionnaire including 19 factors that affect construction safety was mailed to the top 200 construction contractors in the UK. Safety officers and workers were asked to indicate how effective each factor was in improving construction safety. It was concluded from the survey that safety officers and workers agreed on the top six factors, the first three being maintaining safe working conditions, establishing safety training and educating workers and supervisors.
