Zhong, Y (2013) Decision support system for the selection of structural frame material to achieve sustainability and constructability. Unpublished PhD thesis, National University of Singapore, Singapore.
Abstract
This study aims to investigate and compare the economic sustainability, environmental sustainability and constructability performance of the structural steel (SS) frame and reinforced concrete (RC) frame of buildings in Singapore, and to develop and test a decision support system that will aid the selection of structural frame material to achieve optimal economic sustainability, environmental sustainability and constructability. To establish such a model, a holistic framework is built to show the factors that affect decision making when the structural system of a building is being selected. Based on the framework, the decision hierarchy tree was refined by removing those criteria and attributes which had similar performance or been identified as non-important in the selection of structural material. The Decision Support System for Selection of Structural Material (DSSSSM) was established.
