Cross cultural management of quality performance of Chinese construction firms in Nigeria

The construction service quality of the Chinese firms in Nigeria has received mixed reactions among the Nigerians. This study investigates how the Chinese firms can achieve good service quality performance in Nigeria. Culture-specific and bi-directional relationships exist between total quality management (TQM) implementation and national culture. Consequently, this study developed and applied a quality management assessment model in a mixed-method research approach to investigate the impact of cultural differences on service quality performance between the Chinese and the Nigerians. It found significant differences existing between the Chinese and the Nigerians on their perceived influences of national culture on quality, significant association existing between China and Nigeria's NCD scores and the perceived influences of national culture on quality management, and evidence that Chinese firms that are able to manage cultural differences with the Nigerians as being perceived as good quality performance firms. This study concludes by making recommendations from the model.
