Singhaputtangkul, N (2012) Knowledge-based decision support system quality function deployment (kbdss-qfd) tool for assessment of building envelope materials and designs in the early design stage. Unpublished PhD thesis, National University of Singapore, Singapore.
Abstract
Success of a private high-rise residential building project is tied with the assessment and selection of building envelope materials and designs that can satisfy requirements of the stakeholders of the project. Two objectives are set out in this study. The first objective is to identify underlying factors of the criteria for the assessment of the building envelope materials and designs based on the Institutional Theory framework. The second objective of this study is to develop the knowledge-based decision support system Quality Function Deployment (KBDSS-QFD) tool to facilitate the design team to mitigate the decision-making problems identified as a whole. The contributions of using this automated KBDSS-QFD tool include not only mitigating the decision-making problems but also improving overall project management with respect to cost, time, and quality goals of a project.
