Abstract
This research introduces a system, Construction Business Automation System (CBAS), which automates construction business process modeling and execution by using Workflow Technology and Object technology. Object technology is used to produce task components, Workflow Distributed iNternet Applications (DNA), for construction business objects. The anatomy of workflow DNA facilitates the reuse of task component, simplifies process modeling, and provides a consistent and cohesive way to produce the Workflow DNA. An automated construction business process-modeling component, Construction Business Process Modeler (CBPM), is developed to automate the Task Based Modeling (TBM) methodology, which makes modeling a construction business process like assembling business objects in a network. The Request Navigator (RN), which automates the Request Driven (RD) methodology, enables one to execute construction business process in a convenient way. RN is implemented to maximize the search-ability for request forms and query-ability for a corresponding process model in a process model repository. The system proto type is presented with detail discussion of all the involved technologies and methods for business process automation along with Workflow Technology.
