Abstract
The Construction Industry Institute (CII) Research Team (RT) 300, a collaborative effort between CII and the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT), was chartered to define and document the full range of impacts that late deliverables to construction can have on a project, and to better understand the far-reaching impacts of late deliverables at the construction site. Towards these goals, RT 300 developed the late deliverable risk catalog (LDRC) to organize and display the data collected through academic literature, industry surveys and questionnaires, and project case studies. To accompany the LDRC, RT 300 has also developed (1) an overview of the LDRC with suggested implementation strategies, (2) example applications of the research reported in this paper, (3) prevention recommendations for the most common late deliverables, and (4) lessons learned in managing late deliverables and mitigating their impacts. These topics have all been included in this paper to help the construction industry leverage the knowledge developed in the research reported in this paper into improved cost, schedule, safety, quality, and organizational performance through a greater understanding of risks associated with late deliverables to construction.
